For a new parking Experience

Miami Beach Parking GarageMulti-story car parks are often disturbing and narrow. We assume that star architect Zaha Hadid will do something against this reputation in Miami Beach.
The associations most people have when it comes to multi-story car parks is probably something like this: “narrow”. Paint streaks on the ramps, scratches and dents from your neighbor who has hit your car by opening the door of his. Zaha Hadid is probably one of the few persons who has positive feelings when it comes to multi-story car parks. “I have always been fascinated by multi-story car parks”, she says. “I like the idea of bringing the street into a building and turn it into a part of urban space.” And now the star architect realizes her idea by building Miami Beach Parking Garage. She erects the 12.5 million Dollar multi-story car park at Collinspark in Miami Beach.
Open and inviting
Zaha Hadid wants the multi-story car park to have an open structure. Narrowing outer walls are missing, this is clearly visible from the plans. The supporting walls can be found inside and were distributed across columns. The border to the outside world is created by a metal banister and plenty of glass. This allows for natural ventilation and light. The sullen neon tubes, preventing other multi-story car parks from having a nice atmosphere, are not needed here. The individual parking levels provide no narrowing feeling either. The levels are arranged at various irregular heights and are also bordered by metal banisters. The thin concrete slabs protrude into the building’s open center and are painted white, like the rest of the building. The ramps and the staircase also feature an open concept. They wind like a helix through the building and connect the individual levels with each other.
A special highlight awaits the visitor on the eighth and thus the top floor. A high room of glass does not only provide an impressive view across the city and the beach. It can be rented for all kinds of events. If you don’t have proper clothes for an event, clothes shops on sixth floor and shops for luxury goods on street level offer appropriate accessories.
